Jennifer Aaker

STANFORD GSB PROFESSOR

Dr. Jennifer Aaker is a behavioral psychologist, author, and the General Atlantic Professor at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her research focuses on how meaning and purpose shape the choices individuals make, how money and time are spent in ways that cultivate long lasting happiness, and how technology can be used to positively impact human well-being. With Naomi Bagdonas, she teaches A New Type of LeaderRethinking PurposeHumor: Serious Business, as well as Designing AI to Cultivate Human Well-Being with Dr. Fei-Fei Li with the goal to build machine learning capacities that optimize for human thriving, at the individual level and societal level. Dr. Aaker is widely published in the leading scholarly journals and her work has been featured in a variety of media including The Economist, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, The Atlantic, NPR and Science. She is the recipient of the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award from the Society for Consumer Psychology, the Stanford Distinguished Teaching Award, and the MBA Professor of the Year Award in 2019. She also cooks poorly (and is equally proud of that)

Fei-Fei Li

STANFORD CS PROFESSOR

Dr. Fei-Fei Li is a Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University, and Co-Director of Stanford’s upcoming Human-Centered AI Institute. She served as the Director of Stanford’s AI Lab from 2013 to 2018. And during her sabbatical from Stanford from January 2017 to September 2018, she was Vice President at Google and served as Chief Scientist of AI/ML at Google Cloud. Dr. Fei-Fei Li obtained her B.A. degree in physics from Princeton in 1999 with High Honors, and her PhD degree in electrical engineering from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2005. She joined Stanford in 2009 as an assistant professor. Prior to that, she was on faculty at Princeton University (2007-2009) and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2005-2006).

Wendy De La Rosa

Course Assistant

Wendy De La Rosa is a PhD at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business focusing on how to help people make better financial decisions. She is also a co-founder of Common Cents Lab, a research lab that works with organizations to launch and test products that help low and moderate income Americans. Her work has been published in Scientific American, PBS Newshour, Forbes, and Tech Crunch. She is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and a Paul & Daisy Soros Scholar.

Jolena Ma

Course Assistant

Jolena Ma is a senior at Stanford studying Product Design and Computer Science. In the past, she’s helped increase the accessibility of company data on the Product team at Crunchbase and built Android tools to help people tell their stories at Instagram. She’s also led teams on-campus in Stanford Women in Business and she++  and gotten an inside look at entrepreneurship and leadership in the tech industry as a 2018 Mayfield Fellow. She strongly believes in the power of tech to solve meaningful problems and cares deeply about designing solutions that are intentional, thoughtful, and human-centric.

 

Lamia Youseff

Course Assistant

Lamia Youseff, Ph.D.’09, is a business leader (x-Facebook, Google, Microsoft) and a computer scientist (Stanford, MIT, UCSB). She is currently a Sloan Fellow at Stanford GSB and a visiting research scientist at the Computer Science Department. With tens of publications in Cloud and AI/ML and patents, her work received 2000+ non-self citations to date and her book chapter on Cloud Ontology was translated to 6 languages. She received several awards and was featured in IEEE Women in Engineering magazine as a distinguished leader.
